![]() And yes, they constantly update even versions that most people have already filed with. And it would be a waste of time, since as you said, it's constantly updated and you'll get the latest version as soon as you install and run an update. As a former software guy, I'm sure that the reason is that they'd have to do all sort of testing before releasing a new version. It remains the same as when first released. Yes, but they do not update the base version that you download. I hadn't opened the program since around March of this year when I filled my returns. I just opened 2022 tax year TT on my desktop today and I was prompted to download an update. Similar to DVD version, once you install you'll need to go online to update.and new updates are published practically every week until Oct late-file deadline. Maybe the exe and dmg program files at intuit are the most updated versions? That would be nice. And it wouldn't have cost you anything, even for state e-file. ![]() ![]() The state is not tied to the license code, as should be obvious from the number of people who sell/share codes after they've finished their return.įetch5482's suggestion to just use the online version (based on my posts about multiple states being free with online) is much simpler. Oh, and once you've installed TT, it won't let download a different state as your free state on the same machine, even if you use a different license (I tried it a year or two ago). You could install each copy with a different state, and MAY be able to copy the TT data file between the two, but I am not sure what it will do when it sees a different state's data in the second version. If you're running in Windows, there is apparently a way to install a second version of the same program using something called Sandboxie (see #3 on. Pretty sure that isn't going to work the way you think it will. Not sure how that works on a single computer, but I figured what the heck? I may have to complete one, uninstall the software and then reinstall with the other license code. I bought two copies for $10, as I need to use it for two states. Showed up on account summary screen today.
